Which times tables need a little practice?
Try a mixed set, see the facts you know, and print the ones worth practicing. Build confidence one small group of facts at a time.

Focus on one times table
1 times table
Multiplying by one keeps the original quantity. Picture one group containing the other factor.
2 times table
Double the other factor. Two equal rows make a helpful picture.
3 times table
Double the other factor, then add one more group. For 3 × 7, use 14 + 7.
4 times table
Double twice. For 4 × 6, double 6 to get 12, then double 12 to get 24.
5 times table
Count in fives, or take half of ten groups. For 5 × 8, half of 80 is 40.
6 times table
Use five groups plus one group. For 6 × 7, use 35 + 7.
7 times table
Use five groups plus two groups. For 7 × 8, use 40 + 16.
8 times table
Double three times. For 8 × 6, go from 6 to 12, 24, then 48.
9 times table
Use ten groups minus one group. For 9 × 7, subtract 7 from 70.
10 times table
Multiply by ten using place value. Seven ones become seven tens: 70.
11 times table
Use ten groups plus one group. For 11 × 8, use 80 + 8.
12 times table
Use ten groups plus two groups. For 12 × 7, use 70 + 14.
What should you do with a missed fact?
Build it from a fact you know. For 7 × 8, combine 5 × 8 and 2 × 8. Say the relationship, draw an array, then try it again without the model. Accuracy comes before speed.
A single incorrect response may be a slip. Look for repeated difficulty before deciding a fact needs more work.
