Make the facts connected
1 × 6 means 1 groups of 6, totaling 6. Adding one more group of 6 gives 2 × 6 = 12.
The factors can swap: 1 × 8 = 8 × 1 = 8. Use whichever order is easier to picture.
Check with division
9 ÷ 1 = 9. The product tells you the total; division finds the number or size of equal groups.
