Make the facts connected
6 × 6 means 6 groups of 6, totaling 36. Adding one more group of 6 gives 7 × 6 = 42.
The factors can swap: 6 × 8 = 8 × 6 = 48. Use whichever order is easier to picture.
Check with division
54 ÷ 6 = 9. The product tells you the total; division finds the number or size of equal groups.
