A short check to choose your next practice in three selected skills. Work through the questions, compare your reasoning, then follow the lesson links for anything that needs another look.

Allow about 15–20 minutes, with no time limit. Show your working and try without a calculator. This check samples three skills taught within the grade. Use it to choose practice, not to assign a grade level.

For f(x) = x + 4 and g(x) = 3x, find f(g(2)).
For f(x) = x² and g(x) = x − 1, find g(f(3)).
Find the limit of 2x + 5 as x approaches 3.
Find the limit of (x² − 1)/(x − 1) as x approaches 1.
Differentiate f(x) = 2x³ + 4x − 9.
Find the slope of y = x² at x = 5.
